Secretly Admired by Stories and Songs in Second

I had a nice surprise when I did my blog stalking...er, hopping this morning. I have been secretly admired!

My friend Jennifer at Stories and Songs in Second chose to admire lil' ole me in the latest "Blogs We Admire" hop hosted by The Primary Gal.

Please read her post, because it's more than just teacher helping teacher "marketing." One of the coolest things about blogging is the friendships you make with teachers all over the country and world. We really do try to cheer each other on. We all know (especially this time of year!) how tiring teaching can be sometimes. With blogging networks you get new perspectives and virtual pats on the back.

Have YOU thought about starting a blog? There's room for you in the big world wide web of teaching blogs. Maybe this summer is just the time to get started??!!

P.S. There are 18 blogs in the "Blogs we Admire" hop. Be sure to check them all out! Links on Jennifer's blog.

"See Ya Later, Alligator!" Ideas

Oh, SNAP!
It's the last week of school. We've had a "gator-rrific" year, but it's time to say, "After a while, crocodile!" Take a look at a few things we are doing this week...

Alligator Directed Drawing
We watched this video and practiced on our whiteboards. Then we drew with pencils. We traced the gators and colored them. With some paper and glue, we added the finishing touches.

Sometimes people wonder about my "table-less" and "desk-less" room. I do have tables, but my room is so small I only have a few. We like to just spread out on the floor. That's the way we roll. The music in the background is from "Frog Trouble" by Sandra Boynton.

Click to go to the Frog Trouble site! Listen to the songs!

"The Alligator Stroll"
Your last week won't be complete without the alligator stroll. Here is another song from Sandra Boynton's book starring Josh Turner.

Memory Books
Take a peek inside our memory books in progress.

If you want more info about how we make the books, look here or click to go to TPT.

"See You Later, Alligator" Good-bye Song
This song is sweet and easy to sing. Perfect for gator goodbyes. No crocodile tears, please!

Educents Kinder Summer Learning Fun

On Monday, May 5th, a dreaded event happened: my beloved MacBook Pro died. (Gasp.) Fortunately, everything had been saved the night before in our backup. Friends, if you do not have your computer set to back up automatically, do something about it! Work smart.

My precious husband ordered a new MacBook Air for me. (Hugs. Kisses.) Eight days later...(angels singing) it arrived from Shanghai, China.

Here are a few random things from my classroom in recent days.

My class had enough paper scraps from our Eric Carle flower project to make an end-of-the-year gift for our principals.

We had several high school teachers working on their gifted endorsements observe to see how little smart kids learn. I put this math teacher to work!

from Math Lift-the-Flaps Word Problems
